Gary Ladd, Geologist and Photographer
Best known for his accomplishments in photography, Gary Ladd is also an astronomer, a geologist, and an outdoor educator whose preferred subjects are the landscapes of the Colorado Plateau, especially Grand Canyon, Glen Canyon / Lake Powell, Vermilion Cliffs, Bryce Canyon, and other strong geologic themes. "I prefer images with simple, geometric structures that are made where other photographers rarely go, or where others go, but have somehow overlooked the wonderful," says Ladd. His work has been published in National
Geographic Books, Arizona Highways, Plateau Journal, Air & Space, Newsweek, Life, The
Wall Street Journal, Modern Photography and Nature's Best, among others. With more than 25 five years of residence in Page, Arizona, Ladd has become somewhat of a go-to guy for all things Colorado Plateau. On this trip he will share his deep and abiding love for the geology of the greater Vermilion Cliffs area.
