Exploring Escalante

Leader: Wayne Ranney
Dates: April 14–18 (5 days / 4 nights)
Cost: $1295 Members / $1355 Nonmembers
Difficulty: Easy to moderate

Cost includes transportation, hotel (double-occupancy; add $300 for single lodging), and lunches. All other meals are an additional expense.

Whether this is your first time to the Grand Staircase ~ Escalante National Monument or you’re a grizzled veteran of slickrock country, you’ll be impressed by the spectacular landscape in this unique part of the Southwest. Your trip leader, geologist Wayne Ranney, will reveal secrets of Earth’s history in this region. We’ll explore diverse corners of the Monument, including the Burr Trail, the Wolverine Petrified Wood area, Hell’s Backbone, Calf Creek, Hole-in-the-Rock, Devil’s Garden, and Peek-A-Boo Canyon. Our long days will end with free time to relax — sitting in front of the fireplace, soaking in the hot tub (weather permitting), or stargazing from a spacious porch. Each evening we’ll enjoy dinner, perhaps an educational program, socializing, and relaxing at the Boulder Mountain Lodge.
