MNA Director Robert G. Breunig Comments on 30+ Years of Ventures

The year 2008 marks the 31st Anniversary of the Museum of Northern Arizona’s Ventures program. In 1977, MNA started with a half a dozen trips in partnership with Dick McCallum of Grand Canyon Youth Expeditions. We went to some of the most interesting and exciting places on the Colorado Plateau. Then, as now, our concept was simple: Pair the public with the most knowledgeable and experienced leaders and guides available and go.

Our ultimate objective was to help people, through direct experiences, to better understand the incredible range of places and the myriad of ways of looking at the Colorado Plateau. We believed 30+ years ago, as we do today, that the best hope for the future of this region is an educated public that shares our own MNA’s passion for this place. Over the years we have had remarkable experiences, led by a stellar group of guides — and we have formed innumerable friendships with people from all over the world. We hope that you will join us as we continue this MNA tradition, and share in our love of learning and the joy of experience as we continue to explore the Colorado Plateau.
