Cost includes transportation and lunch.
Explore the origins of volcanic activity in the Flagstaff area, survey the San Francisco Volcanic Field, and dig into several of our local volcanoes in detail. Geologist Dr. G. Kent Colbath will be leading this two-day tour through Flagstaff’s volcanic landscape, which includes stops at San Francisco Mountain, Grand Falls, Red Mountain, Wupatki, and more! Moderate hiking will be involved on a few of the stops and participants will be responsible for their own lodging, breakfast, and dinner. Lunch is included each day.

About the trip leader
Dr. G. Kent Colbath moved to Flagstaff in 2005 after retiring as Chair of the Earth Science Department at Cerritos Community College in Southern California. Kent has a broad range of interests and teaching experience in the earth sciences, and developed the curriculum for the “Earthquakes and Volcanoes” course at Cerritos College. Read more…
